Commissions

Commissioning a pet portrait can be a little daunting! However the process is very straight forward! Please have a read through this following guide and have a look at my past pet portraits in the gallery!

Step 1

Each detailed hand drawn pet portrait takes time! And as a general guide it takes me 2 - 3 weeks to complete an A4, and 3 - 4 weeks to complete an A3. It all depends on the surface, detail and the clarity of the photos I have been sent.

Step 2

Before I start a  commission I require good quality, clear, detailed (preferably digital) photographs of your pet to work from (see below for a great photo example!). Don't worry! I can help you decide which ones are the best pose and quality to work from! Please send as many as you like to carolspencerart@gmail.com

The better the detail, the better the portrait!

Once I accept your photographs, I can advise you as to which ones are the best to work with. I will then mock up some composition ideas of the portrait for you to choose from.

One a composition has been agreed on, at this point,  I ask for a 50% booking fee (non refundable, unless an unlikely event means that I am unable to do your artwork). Once I have this I will be able to lock you into my schedule by giving you a week commencing date.

Step 3

Along the creative journey, I will keep you fully informed  and send you progress pictures for you to see... Or keep it a surprise! (you decide!) Once the artwork is complete I will send a final picture to make sure that you are happy with the end result. Once the remaing balance has been paid I will send your portrait to you!

Please kindly note: Commission  artwork must be paid in full on completion and before dispatch

The portrait(s) will arrive to you, mounted on thick mounting board within a card frame surround and enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve.

Portraits can be hand delivered (locally) or posted ( free of charge within the UK), wrapped in in plenty of packaging to avoid damage!

For the best result I will need at least one good quality digital photograph that shows plenty of detail Like this one of Aurora...

Auroras 'hooman' sent me plenty of digital photos to work from, but this one was the best pose and showed the most detail, enabling me to capture that detail into the drawing!

Memorial Portraits

I understand how heart breaking it is to loose a beloved pet. A hand drawn portrait will be the perfect reminder of their beauty and personality for years to come!

Please don't worry if the only photos you have are a bit fuzzy - I can still work my magic to create a bespoke portrait!
